Pain is not what you normally assume it to be. We use the following words to describe pain,

  • ACHE, shooting, throbbing, burning yet these words do not fully convey what we have in mind.
  • Naming is not explanation. Clinically pain may be defined as an unpleasant sensory and emotional experience may or may not be associated with tissue damage.
  • Shooting, burning pain always indicates a nerve related problem eg diabetic neuropathy and trigeminal neuralgia.
